FREEING UP TIME FOR THE BENEFIT OF PATIENTS
In December 2009, doctor and entrepreneur Jesper Melin visited our studio bringing along a compelling project. A dream and an ambitious vision inspired by his work as a doctor in a medical centre in Norway. Jesper had quickly realized that doctors could free up time to focus on treatment instead of administration.
CONVINCING ENTREPRENEUR
Jesper had the business idea and outline for an underlying IT system and saw design as the key to success. He requested a complete design project and gave us extensive freedom in the design process.
Design for all has been the core from start to finish.
THE EXPERIENCE OF MASTERING
TECHNOLOGY WITH A HUMAN FACE
The design idea is to make a concierge to meet the dream and vision of time to treat.

DESIGN FOR ALL SENSES
Technology as a mean that guides and assists when needed. The terminals register when a person is in front and needs service, they address you kindly using visual instructions. The timing of the operation steps is carefully choreographed, and the elements to be activated and operated attract your attention through light and sound, guiding the patient safely through registration and payment
CATEGORY | SERVICE DESIGN
Melin Medicals payment solution has excellent functionality and user interface both regarding healthcare professionals and patients. Universal design is a core benchmark. The service shows good understanding of all kinds of needs, whether it’s a doctor shortage of time, or a patient who may feel ill or sitting in a wheelchair. “Many details that do not mean much to most but much to some, are embraced in this solution”, says Jan Walter Parr, Coordinator.
The service has been developed in collaboration with leading users and user organizations such as the organization for blind people. Melin Medical has two payment terminals, T1 and T2, with integrated IT solutions that are linked to, among other things, patient records. The terminals have a simple and intuitive interface and adapt to different user needs. Color codes, large font sizes, screen contrast control and feature of speech are among the options.
